I grew up living and breathing sports, but never loved working out. I hated running and lifting with a passion. I was really skinny and the weights were really heavy. I’d rather play basketball or throw a football around than learn how to squat.
It wasn’t until I was going through some tough times and struggling with my weight (who would have thought a Lunchables and beer diet would ever catch up to me?) did I realize that I needed to make a change. Thankfully, someone was nice of enough to take me under their wing to workout with me, teach me the basics, and show me what I could be capable of.
I became addicted to progress and loved waking up each day with a fresh opportunity to better myself. With this new positive outlook and work-ethic, I decided I wanted to train to try and walk on to the Division 1 basketball team at Miami University. Flash forward through a Rocky training montage and many months of hard work, that dream became realized. It was unbelievable experience that took me around the country, put me on ESPN (3, but still) and even allowed me to win a few teammate and spirit awards. It completely changed my life around.
This experience sparked my love for helping others. Because someone generously helped me through those tough times, it gave me the chance to change my life around. This is what I want to do for others. So, I decided to get certified in personal training and start Rise Over Run.
I’m so thankful for the incredible friends, coaches, and supporters for making this company possible. The feeling of being able to make a genuinely positive impact on others is hard to put into words. I'm grateful for Rise Over Run and I can't wait to see grow.
